  • The nationally recognised HLTAID009 Provide CPR course teaches the essential skills to respond to cardiac emergencies and deliver life-saving cardiopulmonary resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. Participants will learn how to assess a casualty, perform CPR on adults, children and infants, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively.

    The course also covers the chain of survival, safe work practices, incident reporting, and recognising the psychological impacts of emergencies. Training combines convenient online theory with a short, hands-on assessment — most students complete the practical in under 45 minutes. Suitable for parents, carers, educators, tradies, and workplace staff, this course provides nationally accredited CPR certification with flexible delivery options across the Gold Coast and Northern NSW.

    Participants will learn the correct techniques to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants, as well as how to follow the chain of survival to maximise the chances of a successful outcome. The course also covers the safe and effective use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), written and verbal incident reporting, recognising the psychological impacts of an emergency, and the importance of seeking appropriate support after an incident.

    With a focus on hands-on, practical learning, this CPR training includes recognising when CPR is required, delivering effective compressions and ventilations, and adapting procedures to different casualty types. Most students complete the face-to-face practical component in under 45 minutes, supported by online theory learning. This course is ideal for parents, educators, carers, tradies, and workplace staff who need up-to-date CPR certification.

  • The following units will be included in your certificate:

    • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

  • This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

    • Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.

    • Pre-course study: Students may be required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face to face session depending on the course delivery mode.

    • Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

    • Refresher min. duration: 90 minutes

    • Blended min. duration: 90 minutes

    • Face-to-face min. duration: 120 minutes

    • Online with Face-to-Face (up to 5 students) Min. duration: 20 minutes

    • Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

    • Certificates will require renewal after 12 months.

  • Performance tasks and practical scenarios:

    • Perform CPR on an adult – Including the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position

    • Perform CPR on an infant

    • Theory assessment: A written assessment – Consisting of multiple-choice questions

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We recommend students complete the online learning before attending the practical assessment. This is even more important if it is the first time completing training in your specific course. We understand life can get busy and some students may not have time or have extenuating circumstances. Please let your trainer know if you are yet to complete the online learning. If students are unable to fully complete the online learning before the practical assessment they will have 60 days to finish before the course is abandoned and students will have to book another course.

  • No worries. Just contact us in advance and we’ll arrange a new time that suits you. Please note as we run small groups and cap course numbers, students who fail to give notice of non-attendance will be subject to our cancellation and refund policy which can be found in our terms and conditions

  • Yes. Our courses are suitable for beginners and experienced students alike. The blended format gives you time to learn at your own pace online, followed by hands-on practical experience.

  • You’ll need to create one before your course. It’s quick, free, and can be done at usi.gov.au.

  • Yes, our online learning is mobile-friendly and can be completed on most smartphones or tablets.

  • Let us know before your course. While CPR must be demonstrated on the floor to meet assessment requirements, we’ll do our best to support your situation.

  • Absolutely. Our training is designed to be efficient without compromising quality. You’ll receive practical, real-world training delivered in small class sizes for a better learning experience.

  • Online learning times vary depending on the course. Most students complete online learning for short courses like Provide CPR in 30-45 minutes. More advanced courses like Provide First Aid will take most students 2-3 hours to complete. You don’t have to complete the online learning in one session. You can work through it at your own pace.

  • You'll need your full name and email address to complete the booking. When logging in to training desk to complete your enrolment you will then also need to provide a phone number, address and USI.
